Historical documentary about Assyrian Community in Georgia , revealing its past and its present situation.

In 1876 there were 200 Assyrians living in Tbilisi, by 1899 they had grown to 1600 and were involved in different occupations, such as masons, water carriers/tulukhchi/, kerosene dealers/niftachi, house painters, unskilled laborers. At the end of the 19th century a stratum of well-off Assyrians already emerged in Tbilisi , consisted of contractors, property owners, and merchants.
The massacres of the assyrians between 1914-1918, by the Turks and Kurds in Persia and Turkey had pushed the nation to the edge of extinction. The homeless and impoverished survivors; diseased and suffering from hunger, abandoned their homeland and scattered throughout the East and West. Many refugees found shelter in Armenia , Georgia , and Russia's Azerbaijan . Some of them joined their compatriots in Tbilisi , Others were offered shelter in cities and villages of Georgia .
