Several Assyrians were among the nominees; Schoolminister Ibrahim Baylan (politics), moviedirector Josef Fares (film), actor Fares Fares (theatre), poet Daniel Boyaciouglu (litterature) and Nuri Kino (journalism).

Five Assyrians nominated. Four of them went empty handed. As the winner in the field of journalism was announced many Assyrians held their breath. The winner was presented with the following words:
Because of all that he has done to improve life for "the new swedes". He is a true role model! He is a fighter! He has revealed a lot of the racist and nazi behaviour directed towards immigratants as well as some of the integration frauds. In his articles about the Police and the judicial system he has revealed how badly many immigrants in Sweden are treated and that many people have been sentenced to prison even though they were innocent. Nuri Kino has also investigated and exposed how bad things are in the interpreting business and how they get worse year by year. And this is just a small part of all the investigations that he is responsible for.
In his thank you speech Nuri Kino thanked everyone that had voted for him and said:
- If I can make it then most people can make it, and if you want to make it you will!
The road to success is tough and I would be lying if I said otherwise. But now that I am standing here with shaky knees and looking at you I must admitt that it has been worth it. And I have just started. If I can. You can
Nuri Kino, who grew up in an Assyrian home where both father and mother wore illiterate, has established himself as one of Sweden’s best investigative journalists. His numeral disclosures have lead to several law amendments and given him many awards through the years. He was voted as the winner in competion with twenty of Swedens most renowned journalists.
- If I manage to inspire one single person to change his way of thinking, to go for it and do something good of his life, then I have succeded, said Nuri after the victory. Through the initiativ of Nuri Kino all the nine winners donated their prize money to the collection for the victims of the war in Lebanon.
Nuri Kino has made history again!
