Hopes for peace in Iraq this Christmas Dec 25 2005 A church in central Baghdad has been filled with Iraqi Christians , all praying for peace in their troubled country and the rest of the world. A Christmas service was held at Our Lady of the Flowers church in central Baghdad. As US troops stood atop tanks with mounted machine guns outside the church, the ringing of bells and singing of hymns sounded out over Baghdad streets. Attending the special service, Nafi'a Hanna said, "We hope for peace and blessings for the world, and for prosperity, democracy and peace for our country, God willing." For Hani al-Beer, the Christmas day service and celebrations were a welcome relief from the daily bombings. "The feast is a relief for the people. People united in this church pray for the world as a whole and for Iraq and for peace for all," he said. British and American military officials have spoken of the possibility of troop withdrawal beginning in the area, in the next six month ----
