Assyrian Women Union in Erbil helps "Diasplaced Families" in two villages in February 2008

-- We are now in the middle of winter and the weather is cold in the region. The displaced here left their homes and all they had when they were forced to flee, they only have a bag of clothes with them and nothing more, so they need anything that is offered to them.

-- We decided that the provision most needed and very necessary were oil stove (heater) and blankets.

-- Location of the assistance (villages of Koysanjaq and Armuta) located on the road to Arbil and Sulaymaniyah
-- Number of displaced families (Christians) in the two villages is 100.
-- number of oil heaters delivered (100) one for each family.
-- Number of blankets (200) 2 for each family.
Cost of the project including tranportation and distribution was $17000.

- funding for this project was made possible by individual donors in Germany. AWU bought and distributed the needed items.

Dear Father Horst,

Here is a brief report of our project of helping displaced families. On Friday 22/2/2008 a committee includes ( Galeta, Nany,Lidia and Mr Oder Marbin from Armota )went to towns of Koysenjak, Armota 70 km away from Erbil, which belongs to city of Suliemania.We went to give 80 displaced families the aid which was oil heaters and blankets.Mrs. Galeta AWU secretary gave a short bidding welcome with the attendance and informed the displaced families who send the aid for them, so they send their thanks and regards for you.We also as AWU thank you so much for this support .We were very happy when we saw the smile and happiness on the face of these families men and women, hopping all the best for you, God bless you for your donation to our people.We as AWU are ready for each humanitarian project which will help and serve our poor people in homeland.
