A map in this week's issue; Nov. 1st 2006, of Newsweek shows in red the region
in the 'Plain of Nineveh' where presently the majority of the Christians live, which is
aptly identified as the "Assyrian areas". Before 1990, 200 Assyrian villages shown in yellow
on the map now, defined as 'Kurdistan Democratice Party', were bombed by Saddam,
and their surviving inhabitants were forced to flee to other countries.
