Pamphlets call on the residents of the Dora district in Baghdad to Evacuate their homes. Also groups in al-Mashtal threaten the Sunnis and Christians

Nirgalgate / Agencies

July 20, 2006

Pamphlets were distributed in the past few days calling upon all the residents of Dora regardless of their religious affiliations to evacuate their homes, the groups responsible for these pamphlets threatened to kill anyone who remains at home.

Other groups have threatened a number of Christian and Sunni families in al-Mashtal district to leave their homes or they would be eliminated.

In a related issue Adnan al-Dulaimi president of the Iraqi Accord Front accused Shiite militias of killing, kidnapping, and intimidating the Sunnis and Christians, for the purpose of displacing them from Baghdad, and then the Shiite political parties would be able to spread their control over the Iraqi capital.

Al-Dulaimi pointed out that what is happening in Iraq now is an undeclared civil war.

According to the latest news; July 21, 06:

In the southern neighborhood of Dora, a predominantly Sunni area that has been a focus for violence in the city, a Christian working for the ministry of higher education was shot dead.

The Iraqi capital is in the grip of a murderous campaign by sectarian militias from both communities that has left hundreds dead in the past month, despite a much-heralded city-wide security clapdown.

Four bodies were also found around the city Friday. All the victims had been tortured and then killed with shots to the head, the interior ministry official said, suggesting they had been murdered by sectarian death squads.

Two bodies were also found in the oil city of Kirkuk, an ethnically mixed area that has recently seen an upsurge in violence. One of the corpses bore signs of torture and the other was lacking a head.
